Cardiovascular & vascular imaging

CT angiography and vascular ultrasound for arterial disease, aortic assessment, venous thrombosis and peripheral vascular conditions.

Expert vascular assessment in Bristol

Vascular conditions — affecting the arteries and veins throughout the body — often require specialist imaging for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Modern CT angiography and vascular ultrasound provide detailed, non-invasive assessment of the vascular system, replacing many of the invasive diagnostic procedures that were previously necessary.

Services

Vascular imaging we provide

CT angiography

Detailed imaging of blood vessels using CT with intravenous contrast. Can evaluate the aorta and its branches, carotid arteries, renal arteries, mesenteric vessels and peripheral arteries in a single examination.

Aortic imaging

CT and ultrasound assessment of the thoracic and abdominal aorta. Screening for aortic aneurysm, surveillance of known aneurysms and planning of endovascular and surgical repair.

Peripheral arterial disease

CT angiography of the lower limb arteries for assessment of stenosis and occlusion in patients with claudication or critical limb ischaemia, to plan angioplasty or surgical intervention.

Conditions

What we help investigate

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)

Ultrasound is used for AAA screening and surveillance. CT angiography is used for detailed pre-operative assessment and planning of endovascular (EVAR) or open surgical repair. We provide comprehensive structured reports for vascular surgical teams.

Renal artery stenosis

Renal artery Doppler ultrasound and CT angiography for suspected renal artery stenosis in patients with hypertension or impaired renal function.

Pulmonary embolism

CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) for suspected pulmonary embolism — the standard imaging test for this potentially life-threatening condition. Fast, reliable and highly accurate.
